On Thursday, November 20, 2025, a citizens’ meeting organized by the Tout sauf santé coalition (“It’s about anything but health”) was held in the hall of the Écomusée du Fier Monde in Montréal.
A group of members of the Conseil provincial des affaires sociales participated in this lively evening hosted by Christian Vanasse, a member of the “zapartistes” comedian group, who discussed the effects of privatization on health and social services.
Many attendees took the opportunity to speak, share their experiences, and express their views on the subject. This citizen initiative showed that many of us are concerned about the deterioration of our public services.
Several speakers pointed out that working conditions in the system are directly linked to the conditions under which care and services are provided, and that it is high time to improve them.
It also emerged from these discussions that citizens must regain control over the administration of health and social services, that politicians must be accountable, and that they must stop shirking their responsibilities by creating government agencies such as Santé Québec.
